About this Site and its Creators

This website was developed at the University of California, Los Angeles, as a joint project between History and Information Studies graduate students. Our goal was to create a new way to use the Columbian Exposition of 1893 to address Social Studies lessons at the 9-12 grade level. Over the course of 10 weeks, Professor Joshua Sternfeld led the group through developing the mission, content and design of the site. Other collaborators include Lisa M. Snyder, whose virtual model of the Fair was a particularly inspiring learning tool, and Jan Reiff, an expert on the World's Fair and guest lecturer.
