Acknowledgments

In the course of creating this site, we have incurred many debts.

Joshua Sternfeld led a very productive and challenging seminar, brought together graduate students from two very different disciplines, and provided the overall vision for a historical website centered on the World's Columbian Exposition. His initiative underlies this entire site.

Two experts on the WCE gave generously of their time. Professor Jan Reiff shared her historical expertise with us. Lisa M. Snyder provided a wealth of resources, particularly through her virtual model of the Fair and her participation in class meetings.

We have also benefited from conversations and correspondence with Ellen Pearlstein, Angela Riggio, and Andrea Stamm. Julian Naydichev spent his valuable time lending programming expertise.

Many thanks to all of these people for their support.

Finally, we are grateful to the museums and repositories from which we have drawn our sources:
The Brooklyn Museum
The Field Museum
The Internet Archive
Chinese-American Museum of Chicago
